Note: The dialog in Ark for KDE4 presumes the destination location is the current directory of the archived file and the dialog correctly maintains a drop-down history that allows selecting commonly used destination locations. This mechanism is broken in Trinity. I'm bumping this to Normal status. This faulty is a regression but the bug report contains other issues. I'm not tagging as [Regression] or blocker or critical to R14.0.0 release, but an irritating bug that should get fixed in subsequent R14.0.X maintenance releases. :) I noticed that when opening the archive is in the status bar at the bottom listed file name and the width of window is automatically increased so that the entire file name completely fit. For files with very long name, it is very impractical. For example - for build logs on build-farm: https://quickbuild.pearsoncomputing.net/~trinity/+archive/trinity-nightly-builds/+build/104069/+files/buildlog_ubuntu-wheezy-i386.tdelibs-trinity_4:14.0.0-0debian12+r795+pr42~wheezy_FULLYBUILT.txt.gz |
The dialogs used in ark are non standard. Part of that is addressed in bug report 780 with kdialog. There is no toolbar in ark's kdialog usage and hence, no bookmarks button. Another quirk is the "Extract Files" dialog: * Does not remember user preferences for size. The dialog always opens too small to read the text box string and must be manually resized with each usage. * Does not maintain a history in the drop-down text list box. Support exists but ark never seems to update that list in arkrc. * Has a strange habit of occasionally asking to extract to $HOME/{$PREVIOUS_ARCHIVE_NAME}//{$ARCHIVE_NAME}. (Also notice the two slashes.) This is paper cut territory.
