By default, Bugzilla does not search the list of RESOLVED bugs.
You can force it to do so by putting the upper-case word ALL in front of your search query, e.g.: ALL tdelibs
We recommend searching for bugs this way, as you may discover that your bug has already been resolved and fixed in a later release.

Description ktbz.aoneshot.eliddell 2012-06-22 14:45:30 CDT
The koffice version of Karbon (AKA "karbon14") has an awkward interface, little documentation, and is missing some basic functions it needs to be a useful vector graphics editor.

1. There is no pen (bezier) tool, making it difficult to draw simple straight or uniformly curved lines (the pencil tool is not an adequate substitute).

2. If there is a way to delete individual nodes from a shape, the interface does not make it obvious (likely, there is none).

3. There is no handbook/help file.

4. Context help only applies to the currently selected tool on the toolbar, and several of these tools have no actual descriptions.

5. The right sidebar is so wide that the default configuration obscures the canvas on small screens, and yet it wastes a *lot* of space on useless tabs.

6. There are UI elements with no labels (or tooltips or other help text), which makes it difficult to determine their intended function.

If you are aware of other deficiencies in Karbon, please add to the list above.

This is intended to be a tracker bug for a future re-write that we don't have the manpower for right now; bugs covering individual Karbon deficiencies may legitimately be marked as dependencies, rather than duplicates, of this bug.

Note: Our goal is not to create the next inkscape, illustrator, or freehand, but provide basic usability. Our focus is a vector drawing tool that supports some basics and adheres to specifications.

Note: The karbon user interface is similar to chalk (nee krita). Chalk has a decent help handbook --- and has a line drawing tool too. :-) Likely we can use chalk with both source code snippets and documentation.

I don't think karbon's svg support is up to spec. For example, open the following with the ksvg plugin viewer or gwenview:

main/applications/tdesvn/src/pics/hisc-action-tdesvnaddrecursive.svgz

Open the same file in karbon and notice the missing folder.
