By default, Bugzilla does not search the list of RESOLVED bugs.
You can force it to do so by putting the upper-case word ALL in front of your search query, e.g.: ALL tdelibs
We recommend searching for bugs this way, as you may discover that your bug has already been resolved and fixed in a later release.

Description Francois Andriot 2012-08-08 12:15:19 CDT
Hello, it looks like 'compizconfig-backend-kconfig' is expected to work with old version of Compiz (0.8 ?), because it FTBFS on missing argument to Compiz functions.
I'm using Compiz 0.9.7 on Mageia 2.

An attempt to make backend-kconfig usable on Compiz 0.9.7

Patch partially based on debian patch for backend-kconfig4 (backend for KDE4):

François, this change is compatible also with older versions of Compiz? Or it will be necessary to distinguish code by the Compiz version?
Comment 3 Francois Andriot 2012-08-25 07:36:19 CDT
I think it's unlikely that it will work with older Compiz version.
But I do not know if any distribution still use Compiz 0.8 ...

Anyway, this patch is just an attempt to bypass the FTBFS.
I'm not even sure that compizconfig-backend-kconfig works correctly after having built it ...

now compizconfig is indeed broken...

after installing the various stuff
that seamed relevant for compiz.
compiz effects don't seam to be active.
I can load the compiz window manager.
But it does nothing special.

Trying to launch ccsm
I get:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/ccsm", line 93, in <module>
    import compizconfig
ImportError: /opt/trinity/lib/libcompizconfig.so.0: undefined symbol: _Z14ccsFreeSettingP11_CCSSetting

Without installing anything, i get at least
one effect, wobbly windows.

Linux mint 18.2 mate 64bits
compiz works fine in mate
Comment 6 wofgdkncxojef 2017-08-30 14:33:59 CDT
-_- actually ccsm works fine as long as you don't install the compiz-trinity packages....
Comment 7 wofgdkncxojef 2017-09-10 01:46:50 CDT
....
actually, compiz isn't dead.
the latest is 0.9.13
and there is also a fork still maintained, compiz reloaded
