By default, Bugzilla does not search the list of RESOLVED bugs.
You can force it to do so by putting the upper-case word ALL in front of your search query, e.g.: ALL tdelibs
We recommend searching for bugs this way, as you may discover that your bug has already been resolved and fixed in a later release.

Description Martin Hodges 2009-11-29 14:05:18 CST
CD was to be used to install Kubuntu kde3 Karmic.
Destination system was an ACER Travelmate 3010.
2G memory, T2300 intel processor, 82801G chipset, PCIxx12 firewire with Slimtype DVDRW SSM-8515S. Harddisk OCZ Solid SSD 02.1014.

System was not connected to any network.

CD image was the Beta live CD 20090929.2

Disk integrity check reported error in 1 file. (No indication of which file).

Try Kubuntu mode.
CD loads, several errors appear on the screen but they are not there very long.
Kde starts.
Pekeren er utilgjengelig.
Tastaturen er ikke responsive.
Reboot.

Install kubuntu mode
CD loads, Kde starts.
Click on the Install Kubuntu icon.
Window prompt appears asking for password....
Shutdown to try again.
Screen goes to tty1 and there are some shutdown scripts run.
CD ejects and the screen goes light blue (back to tty7)
Re-enter CD and screen goes black but cursor is still present in the centre.
Machine is non-responsive.
Reboot with prolonged push on the power switch.

This CD is useless with this laptop.

I managed to install the Karmic server CD and then installed the KDE3 desktop after manually updating the sources.list file. The server CD also failed when the laptop was not connected to a network but I managed to get it going by going through a couple of the debconf menu items again.

I have removed the Karmic kde3 CD from my torrent mirror.

I am sorry to hear you are dissatisfied with the Karmic release. I will be regenerating the ISO images for a 9.10.2 re-release that will include the past couple months of bug fixes; this will be announced on the general kubuntu-kde3-announce list as the release date draws closer.
Comment 2 Timothy Pearson 2012-05-13 17:24:29 CDT
This is an upstream Ubuntu problem with Karmic, which is severely obsolete at this time.

Closing as RESOLVED INVALID.
