By default, Bugzilla does not search the list of RESOLVED bugs.
You can force it to do so by putting the upper-case word ALL in front of your search query, e.g.: ALL tdelibs
We recommend searching for bugs this way, as you may discover that your bug has already been resolved and fixed in a later release.

This is probably the sort of request that won't be looked at for several releases, but one I'm sure many people could appreciate. Even basic (instant messaging) support may satisfy at least some users.

Doing a quick Google search for "skype open source" turns up https://github.com/skypeopensource/ , although that seems dead.

KDE4's Kopete has a Skype "wrapper" built in, which could satisfy most users (haven't tested it myself).

I'm not sure that there will ever be true open-source support for Skype on any platform; as Skype uses encrypted communications, any fully open-source solution would be asking for DMCA-related prosecution in the United States and possibly other countries.

That being said, the wrapper idea might work without legal problems.

A quick Google search turned this up in support of my statements above:

I don't think we want to get into this. The KDE developers might be able to do it as they are primarily under European jurisdiction, but the TDE servers are in the United States and I don't want any DMCA related problems.

It may be worth researching if their would be an exception allowing this. I know, under certain circumstances, reverse engineering is allowed (e.g. support for Microsoft Office documents found in many office suites).

Given that an exception for this does NOT exist, then you'd be right in going with the wrapper idea.

I agree with Tim, not worth going into this, even less now that Skype belongs to MS. And we don't have enough people anyway to do this.
