debian tarball
Because we are not an maintainers of the fireflies source code, I will try to find the original source code and our modifications pull into separate patches. So that orig.tar.xz was really original source code. We aren't? If not, who is? The fact that the original source is hard to find is not encouraging. ;-) (In reply to comment #2) > Because we are not an maintainers of the fireflies source code, I will try to > find the original source code and our modifications pull into separate patches. > So that orig.tar.xz was really original source code. Up to your decision. I am fine whether you do as you said or use the uploaded tarballs. I suppose we are a "package" maintainers. The source code is not hard to find: http://somewhere.fscked.org/proj/fireflies/ I do not know whether the author accepts patches. But I see that version 2.08 has not been an official from the author :) I took advantage of this situation so that I used as orig.tar.xz original 2.07 from the author (repacked to xz), our changes pulled into separate patches and also do housekeeping of packaging. Packages uploaded and waiting to build. For example - jessie: https://quickbuild.pearsoncomputing.net/~slavek-banko/+archive/deps-r14/+sourcepub/68418/+listing-archive-extra (In reply to comment #5) > I suppose we are a "package" maintainers. > The source code is not hard to find: > http://somewhere.fscked.org/proj/fireflies/ > > I do not know whether the author accepts patches. That means we are responsible for one less chunk of software. :-) > I took advantage of this situation so that I used as orig.tar.xz original 2.07 > from the author (repacked to xz), our changes pulled into separate patches and > also do housekeeping of packaging. > > Packages uploaded and waiting to build. > For example - jessie: > https://quickbuild.pearsoncomputing.net/~slavek-banko/+archive/deps-r14/+sourcepub/68418/+listing-archive-extra Once they are built I will overwrite the existing packages with them. Thanks! Updated packages are ready to copy: https://quickbuild.pearsoncomputing.net/~slavek-banko/+archive/deps-r14/+copy-packages?field.name_filter=fireflies&batch=20&field.include_binaries=COPY_BINARIES Interesting--the copy comes back with:
The following source cannot be copied:
* fireflies 2.08-7debian7.0.0+0~raspbian in raspbian-wheezy (version older than the fireflies 2.08-5~raspbian-wheezy in raspbian-wheezy published in raspbian-wheezy)
Is this valid?

Comparing version is confusing because the dash before "wheezy". Because of this dash is a package version understood as:
+ base version "2.08" and packaging version "7debian7.0.0+0~raspbian"
+ base version "2.08-5~raspbian" and packaging version "wheezy"
Therefore 2.08-5~raspbian is considered newer than 2.08. I think that the appropriate solution is to remove the previous version before copying.
Done. Thanks for the uploads! |
