By default, Bugzilla does not search the list of RESOLVED bugs.
You can force it to do so by putting the upper-case word ALL in front of your search query, e.g.: ALL tdelibs
We recommend searching for bugs this way, as you may discover that your bug has already been resolved and fixed in a later release.

Description Kristopher 2014-09-02 16:20:25 CDT
Sometimes, when logging, arts displays a dialog saying it can't start, and offers to "try again" or disable the sound system. Clicking Try Again displays no further error, and TDE Control Center can successfully test sound. Kmix also works correctly. There is no Arts related issue in .xsession-errors . It appears that Arts is not allowing itself a chance to start completely before displaying the dialog, however I am unsure how to confirm.

Kristopher, thanks for all the feedback you are providing recently.
Could you post a screenshot of the dialog, just to have an idea?

Here is the screen shot of the dialog as it appears at log in. It seems to work fine after clicking Try Again, but the fact it keeps recurring suggests a bug.

Kris,
there were some problems playing ogg files (like the TDE startup file).
These bugs will be fixed in R14.0.5.
After the release of R14.0.5, could you test again and see if this problem still persist? Thanks

I am using the preview builds on Devuan Ascii and Arts seems to start fine on it's own. I'm not sure whether or not to wait for final release before closing this, so I'll leave that to the developers.

Great! In that case let's close the bug for the time being (the preview builds already include all the changes that go into the final R14.0.5).
If you run into this problem again, please reopen it :-)

Possibly the problem was another view of bug 2844.
