> Add the suspend / resume buttons to the taskbar (kicker) right click button > popup. Godd idea. > Add a resume button to the window title bar. > Change the taskbar button icon to indicate something has been suspended, maybe > make the icon grey! When the application is suspended, the window taskbar button is already gray-out. Clicking on the button opens a dialog which asks whether to resume the application or not. Am I missing something? I am the original author of the suspend/resume code... When I originally wrote it I wanted to add the mentioned support to the taskbar. Unfortunately it isn't that easy; on X11 systems it's taken almost for granted that the window manager is independent of any other portion of the system and can be swapped out. Part of the reason for this is that there is a strict protocol window managers follow when "speaking" to other applications, one that does *not* include suspend, resume, or status commands. As the suspend/resume support is implemented in the window manager, the other problem is what happens to Kicker if someone uses a different window manager that does not support suspend/resume. Basically the only way to do this is to use some kind of out of band communication, probably DCOP-based, between Kicker and TWin. I poked at this a bit and didn't really accomplish anything before moving on to more pressing bugs. Hopefully this info helps someone working on this! Could suspended icons be moved from the taskbar to the area near the system clock. Currently I have an icon for Konversation, Volume, Knemo, TDENetwork manager, Resize and Rotate. Sometimes there are icons for Ktorrent and Transmission. |
