That's not a bug - it's a basic sense of decoration BII :) By the way, that's why I use just this decoration for many years. (In reply to Slávek Banko from comment #1) > That's not a bug - it's a basic sense of decoration BII :) By the way, > that's why I use just this decoration for many years. If that's the way it's supposed to be, that means there's a bug in older versions of TDE since I've never seen BII do that prior to R14... It is not possible - I use BII decoration for a very very long time - perhaps from KDE 2.x. And title bar is always exactly according to the text in the window title. Anyway, right now I'm at my work machine with TDE 3.5.13.2 and I got it exactly in this way. It *is* possible as I've witnessed this personally using 3.5.13.2 in Debian Squeeze and an ancient version of RedHat with KDE 3.3. If I get a chance to, I'll take a snapshot, however I currently don't have KDE or an older version of TDE available. I'm slightly confused since you say (In reply to Kristopher from comment #2) > If that's the way it's supposed to be, that means there's a bug in older > versions of TDE since I've never seen BII do that prior to R14... and then (In reply to Kristopher from comment #4) > It *is* possible as I've witnessed this personally using 3.5.13.2 in Debian > Squeeze and an ancient version of RedHat with KDE 3.3. Which is it? I need to know if this is a potential regression (though I suspect not as even the BII example screenshot in the tdecontrol module shows short title bars. As I wrote - right now I'm sitting at the machine with Debian Squeeze and TDE 3.5.13.2, decoration BII and titles are exactly as they should be - by window title.

Both KDE 3.3 and TDE 3.5.13.2 are prior to R14, and in both I saw the title bar extending all the way across the top of the window when using BII. So where's the confusion??? (In reply to Kristopher from comment #7) > (In reply to Timothy Pearson from comment #5) > > I'm slightly confused since you say > > > > (In reply to Kristopher from comment #2) > > > If that's the way it's supposed to be, that means there's a bug in older > > > versions of TDE since I've never seen BII do that prior to R14... > > > > and then > > > > (In reply to Kristopher from comment #4) > > > It *is* possible as I've witnessed this personally using 3.5.13.2 in Debian > > > Squeeze and an ancient version of RedHat with KDE 3.3. > > > > Which is it? Incidentally, one of the tips in KTip describes this amazing behavior of BII decoration, and this is why I many years ago began to use this decoration. Therefore, I dare say that this is how it works for many years, as well as works amazingly well in R14. Therefore, I must reiterate - it is no regression. If that's the proper behavior, then I must reiterate - there's a bug in older versions of TDE since I personally witnesses the BII titlebars spaning the entire width of all windows. It is possible that it is semi-distro specific. Well then I guess we'll just call this a possible bug in KDE and TDE <= 3.5.13.x, resolved in R14 at some point. :-) (In reply to Kristopher from comment #9) > (In reply to Slávek Banko from comment #8) > > (In reply to Kristopher from comment #7) > > > (In reply to Timothy Pearson from comment #5) > > > > I'm slightly confused since you say > > > > > > > > (In reply to Kristopher from comment #2) > > > > > If that's the way it's supposed to be, that means there's a bug in older > > > > > versions of TDE since I've never seen BII do that prior to R14... > > > > > > > > and then > > > > > > > > (In reply to Kristopher from comment #4) > > > > > It *is* possible as I've witnessed this personally using 3.5.13.2 in Debian > > > > > Squeeze and an ancient version of RedHat with KDE 3.3. > > > > > > > > Which is it? You looked at me screenshot in attachment 2375 [details]? It is my TDE 3.5.13.2. Likewise, I had it in all previous TDE and KDE on Debian since I started using BII. And that's a really long time. I can not imagine that this could be bug dependent on the distribution - unless they have added a patch that this bug deliberately cause. But it does not make sense because it would destroy the principle of this decoration. So BII decoration works in R14 exactly as it should. And if there are any previous version in any distribution, which was broken, it definitely was not on the side of the upstream TDE / KDE. |
Created attachment 2373 [details] Screenshot of this bug Setting the window decoration to BII causes the titlebar of all windows to display as a small bar just large enough to display the title of the window. Resizing the window does not fix this issue.
