Hmm - ok, after watching this for another day, it seems that at least part of the problem is quite basic. I have set, under System Settings, General Tab, Monitor & Display, Power saving Tab, the check box Enable power saving, and Switch off monitor after: 5 hours - which may be a long enough time. After a reboot, this Enable power saving setting has not been "saved" across the reboot. The Enable power saving in no longer checked, and the Switch off monitor after: selection has changed to 30 minutes. I also tried making these settings in Administrator Mode, and, while the settings seem to be saved across a reboot, still, the setting has no effect on the actual action of the power saving functions. The monitor is still switched off, after what is probably 30 minutes. So, it's as if either this setting is not being executed, or there is some other program overriding the power saving setting. I'm just not sure where to look, through all of kdeinit, startkde, dcopserver, ksmserver, etc etc. I think kde is too "automated" for its own good. And still, I would be suspicious of kdeinit4 running. How is that getting called? Trinity 3.5.13 ships with a brand new monitor configuration utility, thus the affected software in this bug report is obsolete and no longer available. Closing as INVALID. |
