Quite strange.... Amarok definitely can play without pulseaudio installed as long as a valid audio device exists (no pulseaudio on my system :-) ) Is alsa installed and correctly setup? Alsa was installed and VLC could play via it, so I believe alsa was not a problem. In that case I guess there must be another library missing between amarok/xine and alsa. Ok, thanks for the feedback. Could you post a screenshot of the error message? That may help with debugging :-) By the way, which TDE version? TDE 14.0.3, amarok 1.4.10, ubuntu 16.04. The error message was "xine was unable to initialize audio drivers error message", no additional information on it and nothing related in the standard output, when started from terminal. Sorry, it's just "xine was unable to initialize any audio drivers", no "error message" in the error message. ok thanks. Is this still valid? I see no problem on my system and definitely never had pulseaudio installed. Amarook definitely works without PA, as long as ALSA is installed and artsd is running. Since amarok works and there is a long inactivity without reply, I am closing this bug. Feel free to reopen it if you can still replicate the problem and provide detailed steps for that :-) |
