By default, Bugzilla does not search the list of RESOLVED bugs.
You can force it to do so by putting the upper-case word ALL in front of your search query, e.g.: ALL tdelibs
We recommend searching for bugs this way, as you may discover that your bug has already been resolved and fixed in a later release.

Description bugs.trinitydesktop.org 2017-03-14 16:25:58 CDT
update-alternatives is in /usr/bin, with a ln -s from /usr/sbin.

However, that has now changed. On a fresh install, and on an upgraded box, the 'update-alternatives' symlink has been removed from /usr/sbin.

I couldn't even remove tde (without using dpkg --force and such), until I created a symlink. Then TDE behaviour allowed for an uninstall.

I'm not sure why the link is gone... but, there you are.

konqueror at least is affected. There were a few other packages, 3 or 4 that also borked.

If you need a list of packages please let me know. I can reinstall and at least see what explodes.

It seems that this would affect only packages:

+ konqueror-trinity
+ konsole-trinity
+ ksmserver-trinity
+ twin-trinity

You can confirm that?

I believe so.

My apt log shows this:

Errors were encountered while processing:
 konqueror-trinity
 konsole-trinity
 ksmserver-trinity
 twin-trinity

And, I was able to re-kick after I made the symlink.

There may be other packages, but those ones hard failed. EG, would some fail silently?

Don't think so though...

I looked at all the files in the tde-packaging and no other has been used full path for update-alternatives.

Building updated packages is now underway. Soon should be available...

Please, you're done testing with actual packages from the Preliminary Stable Builds repository? Can be this bug report closed?
Comment 5 bugs.trinitydesktop.org 2017-03-23 18:21:20 CDT
I haven't had time to test, but I'll close.

If issues persist, I'll reopen.

It'll be a couple of weeks before I can try re-installing Trinity again...

Thanks for the updated packages though!
