(In reply to comment #0) > "Monitor and Display" module cannot be loaded > - Library files for "libpython2.6.so" not found in paths. This is probably a > second bug but am listing it here until you verify. Yes, that is a second bug that is specific to the Lucid LiveCD or systems installed from that LiveCD. This portion of the bug should be repaired for Maverick. Do you want me to report that as a second bug then? It seems to also affect a number of other items in Trinity besides the Monitor and Display - I also can't seem to add a printer. Or do you already have that issue covered? Install these two packages: libpythonize0-kde3 python-kde3-kde3 That should clear up the issue; let me know if it does not. That did not appear to work. I went into KPackage and it told me both were already installed (copied and pasted to make SURE of no typos). DID NOT mess with the "dev" packages. Only option was to uninstall. I went to Synaptic and reinstalled them both and then rebooted. Same problem as before, so I went into KPackage and uninstalled both, rebooted, and reinstalled both. Unfortunately, now I do not have "Monitor and Display" available in System Settings. Do I need to do a total reinstallation? Or is there a noob-friendly way to fix? Thanks! I'll need to look into it. The error is caused by a missing package so a reinstall is not necessary, nor would it help. Do you have this package installed? libpython2.6 KPackage shows it as installed. Option is to uninstall. Synaptic also shows it installed but gives "Mark for Reinstallation" option which is not available in KPackage. Is it worth trying to reinstall? And would you rather have that submitted as a second bug and annotate this one with the temporary fix I noted in the initial submittal? It looks like that does install the ATI drivers, but then breaks the system with this Python issue - my monitor is now running in probably 800 x 600, which is interesting on a 24" wide monitor... }:-] Yes, go ahead and submit the python bug separately. Please mark it "Blocker". Thanks! Went into Synaptic Package Manager, searched on "ATI", and installed "xserver-xorg-video-ati" which did NOT show as installed. Reboot now has monitor apparently running at nominal 1920 x 1080. "Monitor and Display" still not available in "System Settings", but that issue has been transferred to bug 277. Is this report still valid? (In reply to comment #11) > Is this report still valid? You can mark this closed if you wish. I am not currently using Trinity, so I hate to make you waste any more of your time since I am unable to verify the current status. Thanks for all your help! |
