By default, Bugzilla does not search the list of RESOLVED bugs.
You can force it to do so by putting the upper-case word ALL in front of your search query, e.g.: ALL tdelibs
We recommend searching for bugs this way, as you may discover that your bug has already been resolved and fixed in a later release.

Description Kristopher 2017-11-14 19:37:40 CST
The AIM website says that AIM will be discontinued in December 2017. Going to aim.com redirects to the announcement:

https://my.screenname.aol.com/_cqr/login/login.psp?sitedomain=www.aim.com&siteState=OrigUrl%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.aim.com%2F.home&offerId=aim-travolta-en-us

Thus, AIM support won't be needed any more in Kopete as of December 2017.

Now we have two options:

1) Keep the code in place and add build option whether the code should be built or not.

2) Drop the code definitively.

I decide which option to choose...

There's always that chance that AOL could reactivate their AIM service. It wouldn't hurt to stick with option 1, at least until we can be sure that AIM is well and truly dead (worst case, it gets removed, AIM gets revived, then the code can be recovered from git).

That said, if you do keep it, there's the issue of bug 2620: if AIM gets revived, it will probably not revert the protocol change that caused bug 2620 in the first place, so AIM support would still need updating. With no AIM service to test with at the current moment, there's no way to test any fix to bug 2620 -- unless there's a way to emulate AIM service with whatever change they made?

A moment late - I was pushing the commits that drop AIM protocol from Kopete shortly before your comment. I decided on the reason that after Microsoft has been stopped MSN we also removed MSN code from Kopete. If AIM happens to be started again, we can revert appropriate commits.

For now, bug is resolved by commits dc34f9c3 (master) and f59b2e28 (r14.0.x).
