No drive icons on desktop after connecting MP3 Player

Description Wade B. 2019-10-10 20:05:52 CDT
Hello. I am running Trinity R14.0.6 on Mageia 7.1.

I have an interesting problem regarding USB mass storage devices under Trinity.

Whenever I connect a USB flash drive, like my SanDisk Cruzer, a TDE Daemon window will appear that gives me choices on what to do with the plugged in flash drive, such as open Konqueror or download pictures with DigiKam.

The TDE Daemon window does not appear when I connect an MP3 or MP4 player that use USB Mass Storage Class. This issue occurs on my main desktop PC, as well as my laptop PC that is also setup with Trinity R14.0.6 on Mageia 7.1. I have tried another distro via a LiveUSB, and when the same players were connected in that live session, a window did appear with options to open in the file manager, etc.

I took a look at the "dmesg | tail" output after I plugged in the MP3/MP4 players, and the kernel does detect them and lists them as SCSI removable disks. GParted also shows these devices. With this information, I can manually mount the MP3/MP4 player storage using Konsole as root, and transfer files to the players that way. Because of that, I can't use my normal user account to manage files on these devices like I can with standard USB flash drives like the Cruzer. I need to use Konqueror or Krusader as root to do so. I also need to manually unmount the devices in Konsole as well.

Would this be a possible bug with Trinity, or my particular setup? I can provide any terminal output if requested.

Expected behaviour when USB flash drive connected. The USB in question is my original Mageia 7.1 installation media, which has two partitions listed as separate drives on the desktop.

No drive icons on desktop after connecting MP3 Player

Here is what happens when I connect one of my MP3 players, an RCA M6204-B. Storage is USB MSC, and there should be an icon on the desktop along with the TDE Daemon window. Dmesg indicates the device and flash partitions are detected as with the flash drive, yet no window or drive icon appear on the desktop.
