Hello, Mirrors will take up to 48 hours to sync with the latest Trinity Desktop release. Calvin Morrison The mirrors have been updated with the latest binary packages for v3.5.13 and are now available for general public use. We apologize for the delay; the Internet service for the Trinity project was cut for around 12 hours immediately after release, which slowed the publishing of binary packages tremendously. I just spent a few hours restoring from backup after trying KDE 3.5.13. ksmserver failed to upgrade because of a local diversions like /usr/bin/plasma -> /usr/bin/plasma.kde4 /usr/bin/plasma-desktop -> /usr/bin/plasma-desktop.kde4 ksmserver also failed to uninstall because of diversion problems too. The diversions are needed to prevent KDE4 from launching at the same time as Trinity. This will be looked into in more detail in 3.5.14 to see if there is a way to prevent Plasma from launching without a diversion, possibly coordinating with the upstream KDE4 project to achieve this goal. In the meantime, you can remove the diversions (as root) with: dpkg-divert --remove /usr/bin/plasma dpkg-divert --remove /usr/bin/plasma-desktop Sorry, I forgot to mention that I removed the diversions to get 3.5.13's ksmserver to install. 3.5.13 seemed to work ok without it, but I thought it wise to get all the 3.5.13 packages installed with no broken packages or packages remaining from 3.5.12. With that done, I launched Trinity and the menus and window borders disappeared - unusable. Which is when I tried to uninstall Trinity, to reinstall 3.5.12, which failed in 3.5.12's ksmserver uninstall script because of diversions, requiring me to restore 3.5.12 from backup. Do you run a window compositor of any kind? 3.5.13 is ARGB aware whereas 3.5.12 is not. Created attachment 115 [details]
output of dpkg -l
I don't use a compositor. Please find attached the output of dpkg -l. (In reply to comment #8) > I don't use a compositor. > Please find attached the output of dpkg -l. (In reply to comment #8) > I don't use a compositor. > Please find attached the output of dpkg -l. It looks like this is related to Bug 583. There is a workaround in that bug report that should get you up and running. Marking as duplicate. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 583 *** |
