By default, Bugzilla does not search the list of RESOLVED bugs.
You can force it to do so by putting the upper-case word ALL in front of your search query, e.g.: ALL tdelibs
We recommend searching for bugs this way, as you may discover that your bug has already been resolved and fixed in a later release.

Description Darrell 2011-12-28 17:23:53 CST
In KControl, Appearance & Themes, Style, Style Tab, there is a check box for enabling icon tooltips. This one check box controls too much. The check box controls tooltips on both toolbar buttons and directory folders in Konqueror, KMail etc.

The checkbox should control tooltips only for toolbar buttons. For directory folders in Konqueror, KMail, etc, there should be a different check box control.

The tooltips over buttons are helpful, even in the System Tray. The tooltips in folders almost always are useless and redundant and simply get in the way, especially for users who use any kind of list view rather than various icon views.

More details:

Tooltips in the Konqueror sidebar (navigation panel) should be controlled by the tooltips settings in Konqueror->Settings->Behavior->Misc Options->Show file tips, not by the check box in KControl->Appearance & Themes->Style, Enable tooltips. For whatever reason, the Konqueror sidebar is treated as a toolbar, which is why tooltips appear in the sidebar when enabled in KControl rather than in Konqueror->Behavior.

The two tooltip options in Konqueror->Settings->Behavior->Misc Options are dependent upon enabling KControl->Appearance & Themes->Style, Enable tooltips. The tooltip check boxes in Konqueror should be independent of the latter.

Apps that can be minimized to the system tray have tooltips controlled by KControl->Appearance & Themes->Style, Enable tooltips. Sometimes the tooltips are useful, such as when Amarok is minimized to the tray. When minimized in this manner, the tooltip provides a convenient way to dissplay the currently playing file. The option KControl->Appearance & Themes->Style, Enable tooltips is supposed to control toolbar icon tooltips. There should be a way to provide system tray app tooltips without going overboard with unwanted tooltips. Seems that tooltips for apps minimized to the system tray would be controlled by a check box option in the Panel configurations, but not the existing check box in Configure Panel->Appearance->General.

Summary:

* Konqueror->Settings->Behavior->Misc Options->Show file tips functions independently of KControl->Appearance & Themes->Style, Enable tooltips.

* A new check box in Konqueror->Settings->Behavior->Misc Options controls tooltips in the Konqueror sidebar and is dependent upon the parent check box:

		_ Show file tips
			_ Show previews in file tips
			_ Show file tips in navigation panel (sidebar)

* The check box in KControl->Appearance & Themes->Style controls toolbar tooltips.

* The check box in Configure Panel->Appearance->General controls panel icon tooltips.

* A new check box controls tooltips for apps minimized in the system tray. I don't yet know the best location for this check box.
