After further testing, I managed to get it working, but not with Kmail's passphrase box. I opened my gpg.conf file and added the "use-agent" line, then edited gpg-agent.conf to use pinentry-qt (Debians Qt3 version of pinentry). After logging out and back in, I tried to open the encrypted email, and I get pinentry's passphrase dialog instead of Kmail's, which worked fine. I also tried it with pinentry-x11, which also works fine. I haven't tried it with pinentry-qt4 or pinentry-gtk. I able to dual boot with another distro to test it (I hate flash drives!), so if someone using another (non-Debian) distro and post their results, that would probably help spot the problem. Is this problem still valid? (In reply to comment #2) > Is this problem still valid? Definitely yes. I am still spammed by passphrase dialogs every time I attempt to open an encrypted email. *** Bug 1193 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** This should be fixed in GIT hash 7bd54f5.
