I like this idea. Currently knowing the volume level requires at least one mouse click to view the slider button, which only provides a general idea of the volume level rather than specific. Not a show stopper, but a number written across the icon, much like Akregator shows the number of new feeds, would be nice. Possibly too add a "one-click restore" option. For example, I keep my volume output at 51%, which for me works well for my music listening with Amarok. Yet often when I listen to an online video I need to crank the volume to almost 100% to hear the audio. After I watch the video I want to restore the volume to my preferred 51%. Xine has an option to restore the volume when exiting. Possibly that feature could be imitated. Kaffiene has a toggle button to simulate a TV remote control to toggle between two TV stations. Something similar to that might work too. I personally like the kpowersave-style vertical progress bar for showing this kind of information. Advantages/disadvantages compared to text? I don't know --- I don't use kpowersave. Do you have a screen grab? |
