By default, Bugzilla does not search the list of RESOLVED bugs.
You can force it to do so by putting the upper-case word ALL in front of your search query, e.g.: ALL tdelibs
We recommend searching for bugs this way, as you may discover that your bug has already been resolved and fixed in a later release.

Description Darrell 2012-02-20 17:01:09 CST
In KControl, Appearance & Themes, Theme Manager, upper right corner, is a URL named "Get new themes..." linked to kde-look.org. As discussed in the developer's mailing list, most of the themes provided at that web site no longer are compatible with TDE. The link should be removed from KControl.

Further browsing of the entire source tree reveals the kde-look.org web site is referenced in several other apps. Those references and hard-coded links probably should be removed too.

I can remove those references from the help DocBook source files, but that still leaves the c++ files.

I posting as Critical. Although there is no harm with users going to the web site, discovering that most of the themes are not compatible is bad PR.

Okay I have a question though; Is this website (kde-look) still a good resource
for our users? I think so. Large parts of Trinity access it via the GHNS
protocol, to download new stuff. So I think there are larger implications, like
which parts of those are still actually working/compatible. Backgrounds are
obviously still working, but are all themes, styles, etc?

I don't know the best answer. I filed the report as a tracking mechanism. Perhaps for now we delete the link in KControl Theme Manager and I delete all references in the help files.

Then again, perhaps there is a simple reason the themes no longer work in Trinity and we fix that problem..

I have a request in with kde-look.org to create TDE specific categories, as I like the idea of a third party location for light-duty developers to upload their graphical stuff. We'll see what they say.

Tim, was there a response to your request? If not, how about trying again after R14 goes official?

Other than notations by the contributor such as KDE 3.x, KDE 4, etc., is there a way users can know which themes are no longer compatible with Trinity? I can enter "Trinity" or "TDE" in the search box and receive results, but perhaps those search terms are treated as a null or *.

We probably need to provide some sweat equity if we want the site owners to help us. Possibly even some donation funds. :)

It now points to https://www.trinity-look.org.
I think we can consider this bug resolved.
