This bug report is not related to bug report 769 of the same nature. About half the time, a few seconds after ark is opened with an archived file and I'm browsing the contents, ark crashes.

Slackware 14.0 32-bit. The Trinity package set is from December, before the massive renaming bagan.

In bug report 1403, updates to tqt3 threading support were mentioned as the cause of the failures. Could those same updates be the cause here?

A new backtrace after rebuilding all packages against TQt3 with the patch in bug report 1508. This crash was trying to open a tar.gz archive. Typically the crash occurs when I am traversing the archive within ark, such as collapsing directories to view the contents of other directories.

Thank you for the updated backtrace.  It looks like the failure is still threading related, and that the fix committed recently to TQt3 in GIT hash 9a4765a might help, along with an update to how Ark handles its initial thread creation in GIT hash 7be7990.

Can you please recompile/reinstall both TQt3 and tdeutils from GIT, then see if the crash persists?  If so, simply post another backtrace...

I'll update but reporting might be tommorrow or might be days. (Or if the recent patches fix the problem, not at all.)

The crashes are not repeatable. I can't predict when I experience them. I can open a dozen archives in a row and then a crash occurs. Sometimes several crashes occur one after the other.
