Description Darrell 2013-05-12 16:56:16 CDT
Kmail provides an option to edit the user's Recent Addresses list but not in an obvious or intuitive manner.

When a user starts composing a new mail, there is a Select button to the far right of the To text box. The Select button opens a Select Recipient dialog listing all addresses used in mails.

There is no option in the Select Recipient dialog to edit the list, specifically deleting old/stale addresses.

Editing that list requires "right-clicking" in the To text box, upon which a context menu appears, in which a menu option exists named Edit Recent Addresses.

The Select Recipient dialog should contain support to delete addresses. Possibly add a context menu such that when a user "right-clicks" on any address in the Select Recipient list, a single item menu option appears to delete that mail address. A confirmation dialog would then appear.

In parallel, selecting an address in the Select Recipient list and pressing the Delete key would result in the same confirmation dialog.

There is no need to provide Add support to the Select Recipient list because addresses get added automatically when typed in the To text box.

Second, unlike the Select Recipient dialog, the Edit Recent Addresses dialog does not sort the list, which is challenging for a user to find a specific name or address.

Third, the layout of the two dialogs should be the same to encourage a consistent look-and-feel. The Select Recipient dialog has the better layout, using columns.

Fourth, the Edit Recent Addresses dialog should store its size in the kmailrc file, just like the Select Recipient dialog. Currently the Edit Recent Addresses dialog always opens in a tiny size that is almost useless.

Fifth, the Edit Recent Addresses dialog does not support using the Delete key to remove addresses from the list.

Summary:

1) Ensure the Edit Recent Addresses dialog sorts the list.

2) Update the Edit Recent Addresses dialog layout to use the same column layout as the Select Recipient dialog.

3) Retain the Edit Recent Addresses dialog window size.

4) Add delete support to the Select Recipient dialog.

5) Add Delete key support to the Edit Recent Addresses dialog.
