By default, Bugzilla does not search the list of RESOLVED bugs.
You can force it to do so by putting the upper-case word ALL in front of your search query, e.g.: ALL tdelibs
We recommend searching for bugs this way, as you may discover that your bug has already been resolved and fixed in a later release.

Description linux 2014-12-28 13:50:53 CST
KPowersave does not work anymore after upgrading from 3.5.13. It just shows "No information about battery and AC status available", making it completely useless.

Just to make sure, you are using kpowersave not tdepowersave, correct?

If you are, try tdepowersave. kpowersave depends on HAL and HAL is very flaky on newer systems.
Comment 2 linux 2014-12-28 16:22:16 CST
Noticed that hal was not running. And it has no init script(?). KPowersave works when hal is started manually (/usr/sbin/hald).

Thanks for hint about tdepowersave - haven't noticed that it exists. It seems to work fine. KPowersave should be removed then.
Comment 3 linux 2014-12-28 16:55:36 CST
Also tdeuils depends on kpowersave so you cannot install tdepowersave easily. That looks like a bug.
Comment 4 Michele Calgaro 2014-12-28 20:47:35 CST
For info, which distro are you using?
Comment 5 linux 2014-12-29 01:42:40 CST
Debian Wheezy

Several people have reported similar comments about Kpowersave doing nothing after the upgrade.
In R14.0.0 on Linux systems, Kpowersave is not meant to be used, since it has been replaced by tdepowersave, the latter not depending on HAL anymore. Kpowersave is still there for *bsd (or other) systems which stills requires HAL.
For info, in Jessie kpowersave does not even build anymore, the hal package having being removed.
Therefore you need to switch to tdepowersave.

tdeutils depends on "klaptopdaemon-trinity | kpowersave-trinity".
While the dependency on kpowersave is kind of unclear and seems redundant, it should not be a problem for installing tdeutils, since klaptopdaemon-trinity is a package that belongs to tdeutils.
You can safely remove kpowersave, install tdepowersave and have tdeutils installed.

Once everything works, please leave the bug open until we resolve the kpowersave-trinity dependency (either to tdepowersave or removing it).

"aptitude install tdepowersave-trinity" offered removing kpowersave-trinity and installing klaptopdaemon-trinity as second option. It works now.

Good :-)
At the same time, we have discussed internally how to address the wrong kpowersave dependency in tdeutils. This will be fixed soon.

Dependencies of tdeutils updated in tde-packaging GIT - hash ad67bf33 (master) and 81a56a94 (r14.0.x).
