By default, Bugzilla does not search the list of RESOLVED bugs.
You can force it to do so by putting the upper-case word ALL in front of your search query, e.g.: ALL tdelibs
We recommend searching for bugs this way, as you may discover that your bug has already been resolved and fixed in a later release.

Sometimes I do not pay attention to the location of the mouse pointer when I start scrolling with the mouse wheel. :)

When the mouse pointer is located over an application, then as expected the application is affected by the mouse wheel scrolling.

When I happen not to pay attention that the mouse pointer is hovering over the KDE kicker/panel, then the mouse wheel scrolling has the effect of paging/scrolling/cycling through all open applications. Hardly fatal, but distracting.

Recommended solution is to provide a configuration option to stop kicker/panel from cycling through the apps.

Similarly, if the mouse pointer is hovering over the desktop pager in the panel, the mouse scrolls through each virtual desktop. Therefore an option to disable scrolling through the apps should disable scrolling through the desktops too. Or create two options to control both actions.

Not to forget that hovering the mouse pointer over the Konqueror tab bar and moving the scroll wheel then scrolls through the tabs.

I see the usefulness for these options, but like so much we discuss, everybody has their own work flow style. These automatic scrolling behaviors frustrate me much. I don't want any scrolling at all in any of these areas.

To satisfy both types of users, the only solution is to add KControl check boxes.

I don't know whether one check box should control all scrolling or one check box should be added for each area (panel, virtual desktops, Konqueror tabs, etc.)

I think a seperate option for each would be favored. I tend to rely on twin
scrolling, and I don't like the scrolling for kicker... I think other people
might have similar feelings.

I am having a lot of trouble with the configuration bits. Not with the actual
coding (pfft it was just one if statement) but with getting it to save and load
in my kcontrol module.

Sometimes I shake my head at TDE. A lot of this seems to complicated for it's
own good :p

Okay,

I have just uploaded a patch to solve the problem for the taskbar ONLY.

Please report NEW enhancement requests for other applications that require
similar options.

Woohoo! By golly Calvin! Works great with an existing and new profile. Setting is persistent across sessions.

One note: the text string has a period at the end and none of the other strings do. I fixed my copy of the patch so don't worry about that. :)

How much work do you think to apply the same fix to virtual desktops and the Konqueror tab bar?

Thanks!

Tim, should I push this patch?
Comment 7 Darrell 2012-03-10 21:39:29 CST
One more candidate: Konsole tab bar.
Comment 8 Calvin Morrison 2012-03-11 11:08:47 CDT
If it works I say push :-)
Comment 9 Calvin Morrison 2012-03-11 11:41:41 CDT
seperate bugs would make it easier to keep track of! :-)

Bug reports 908 (Desktop Pager), 909 (Konsole), and 910 (Konqueror) submitted! Hopefully you can clone the patch here to those bug reports. :)
