By default, Bugzilla does not search the list of RESOLVED bugs.
You can force it to do so by putting the upper-case word ALL in front of your search query, e.g.: ALL tdelibs
We recommend searching for bugs this way, as you may discover that your bug has already been resolved and fixed in a later release.

Info

Hi,

On PCLinuxOS 2015 with TDE R14.0.1, TDE detects my new USB external cd/dvd burner as floppy disk drive, instead of what it should be.

What is strange is that in K3B, the drive appears in the list, but cannot detect that there is a brand new DVD-R disc in it. When the drive is plugged, after some time a pop-up appear with a floppy disk icon on it.

I provided in a zip file the following details:
-K3B device
-TDEHWLIB detection
-dmesg

This is not the same external drive as in bug 2147; because I fried accidentally the old one :)
My old one was based on a Pioneer drive, and this one is based on a Panasonic (matsushita) drive, but it is detected by TDEHWLIB as an Initio drive.

Tell me if I can provide some help!
-Alexandre

This issue was caused by overly broad matching rules for the floppy device. The match algorithm has been corrected in GIT hash fd0de2b (tdelibs).

Please test and confirm.

Thanks!

Hi,

Ok, great!

One more issue: Since the nightly build package building system is stopped, how can I test it, except waiting for R14.0.2? I fully understand all the money restriction issues as I live it too with my own business, but it will be harder for me to help with testing between releases. I don't know enough about it, but for recent Ubuntu (15.04), do you (or Slavek) still have a repo for nightly builds?

Thank you!

I suppose I will soon backport this patch and updated packages will be in preliminary stable builds repository - see https://wiki.trinitydesktop.org/Preliminary_Stable_Builds

The nightly builds are still running and being used by myself and Slavek for validation; the main change is just that random users do no have access to that repository. Contributers (such as yourself) can ask for access to the nightly builds repository -- as long as you have a somewhat stable IP address I can grant access to you for testing purposes.

For information - updated packages including said patch have been published in the Preliminary stable builds.

Ok thank you!

A ''somewhat stable IP address'' is all I don't have for now :(

I'm just throwing an idea, but do you think that having a repo for nighlty build on latest Ubuntu with no public access could be possible? As an example, the person has to ask by email a dev to gain access to the instructions on how to access the repo and package.

For now I think that I'll wait for Ubuntu 15.10 to come out and then, I'll install Slavek's packages.

I saw the message on user's mailing list for donations.I want to give a donation to TDE in the next few weeks. I worked very hard this summer and when all my client's invoices will be paid, I'll be able to give some money. Or maybe a part?

Thank you!

I was looking around as most people don't have a stable IP, and it seems that at some point apt-get added HTTP password authentication support. Do you want to send me an Email requesting access and we can give it a try?

Ok, I just sent the email!

Hi,

I think that we'll put this bug on ''hold'' for some time, since I think that this external dvd drive is not 100% reliable.

Thank you!

Hi,

Ok now I understand the rest of the issue: This external dvd drive needs to have another power supply on many computer (as my Asus EEE X101ch). This is why it has been unreliable. My previous external dvd drive did not needed a second power source, so this is why I thought that this one was similar.

Thanks!
