By default, Bugzilla does not search the list of RESOLVED bugs.
You can force it to do so by putting the upper-case word ALL in front of your search query, e.g.: ALL tdelibs
We recommend searching for bugs this way, as you may discover that your bug has already been resolved and fixed in a later release.

Description Felix Miata 2018-06-24 12:43:15 CDT
To reproduce:
1: # zypper ref

Actual results:
1: timeout exceeded when accessing 'http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/trinity/rpm/osstw/trinity-r14/RPMS/x86_64/media.1/media'

Expected results:
1: repos refresh

http://tde-mirror.yosemite.net/trinity/trinity/rpm/osstw/trinity-r14/RPMS/x86_64/ has no subdirectories. Standard openSUSE repos, e.g.
http://download.opensuse.org/tumbleweed/repo/oss/x86_64/
don't have <ARCH>/media.1/media files. Why does zypper try to find non-existent files on Trinity's mirrors?

13:24	a-865	timeout exceeded when accessing 'http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/trinity/rpm/osstw/trinity-r14/RPMS/x86_64/media.1/media
13:26	SlavekB	"GET /trinity/trinity/rpm/osstw/trinity-r14/RPMS/x86_64/media.1/media HTTP/1.1" 404
13:30	SlavekB	However folder without /media.1/ exists - see
13:30	SlavekB	http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/trinity/rpm/osstw/trinity-r14/RPMS/x86_64/
13:32	a-865	I have no idea why it wants the non-existent folder
13:32	a-865	none of *.repo refers to any such location
13:35	SlavekB	Because the url does not exist, the redirector tests the existence on the primary server => that is why there is a delay.
13:44	a-865	Maybe Francois knows what's going on: https://bugs.pearsoncomputing.net/show_bug.cgi?id=2938
13:44	tbottu	Bug 2938: blocker, P5, ---, kb9vqf, NEW , [opensuse] timeout exceeded when accessing 'http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/trinity/rpm/osstw/trinity-r14/RPMS/x86_64/media.1/media'
13:46	kb9vqf	I just saw this yesterday as well, is this new/
13:46	kb9vqf	?
13:48	SlavekB	kb9vqf: Here is one related thing - firewall on master site again blocks access from VPS, so verification of a non-existent URL takes a long time.
13:51	SlavekB	I have seen many times that the firewall falsely evaluates the regular higher activity as an attack and blocks the access from this ip.
13:59	kb9vqf	SlavekB: So I wasn't aware there was an automated process going....that explains things
13:59	kb9vqf	I just need to know the origin IP so it can be whitelisteed
14:00	SlavekB	$ host mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org
14:00	SlavekB	mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org has address 37.205.10.16
14:10	kb9vqf	OK, let's see if that helps
14:10	SlavekB	Nice, now is access possible and 404 is returned quickly (Y)
14:12	a-865	error gone here too
Comment 2 Felix Miata 2018-06-24 13:30:50 CDT
Timeout allows process to proceed, but it remains a question why access to the non-existent URL is attempted.
Comment 3 Felix Miata 2018-06-29 13:55:09 CDT
Timeouts are back in earnest, so zypper cannot function without extended waiting, and cannot use TDE repos at all.

Since the whitelist of redirector address seems to be no longer valid, I have edited the redirector. When is needed to verify the existence of a URL on the master server, ping is first performed to verify the availability of the master server. If the server is not available or access from the redirector is banned, 404 is returned quickly.

Felix, still having timeout issues?
