By default, Bugzilla does not search the list of RESOLVED bugs.
You can force it to do so by putting the upper-case word ALL in front of your search query, e.g.: ALL tdelibs
We recommend searching for bugs this way, as you may discover that your bug has already been resolved and fixed in a later release.

Description Michael Martin 2011-10-14 18:38:20 CDT
Surfing the web in kde.techbase.org I have found that some tutorials of KDE3
have been nominated for deletion.

http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/KDE3

You can read this: "This page has been nominated for deletion.

Reason: KDE 3 content: should be looked through for useful stuff before deleting.

If you disagree with its deletion, remove the template and discuss it on its talk page."

Well, for KDE this is normal. The development in the kde3 finished. I think that for TDE development the tutorials and all development information of the
KDE3 branch is still relevant meanwhile TDE is not ported to qt4. I think it should be a good idea to hold this information for developers in www.trinitydesktop.org.

Yes, this is a very good idea.

Do you have time to comb through techbase and post a list of URLs here of content that will be removed? That content then can be pulled and placed on the Trinity Desktop website.

TechBase has already eliminated some content. It would be necessary to pull and place all content about kde3 on Trinity Desktop website. KDE3 is now TDE and this content is the basement for a techbase.tde, a place for TDE developers. In the future this base should be updated with the changes as "libtqtinterface"

THE STARTING POINT IS THIS:

http://techbase.kde.org/Category:KDE3

http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/KDE3

All content and links should be downloaded and uploaded to trinitydesktop.

Some links lead to ibm website. The content is also relevant. For example.
    http://techbase.kde.org/Category:KDE3
    link Development/Architecture/KDE3/DCOP
          http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Architecture/KDE3/DCOP
link Connect KDE applications using DCOP
          http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/library/l-dcop/index.html?ca=dgr-kdeml01KDEDCOP

As you see "Connect KDE applications using DCOP" is a relevant content that link from techbase.kde to ibm. This content should be uploaded to trinity desktop because is the technology architecture of TDE. This is an example, I have seen more links from techbase to ibm. Httrack could help downloading all pages and links.

I am thinking that maybe HTTRACK could be useful for download all content and links from the starting point and then upload to trinity website. Later, in future, content would be updated to reflect changes.

Some relevant content doesn't exist anymore:

http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/KDE3
    link KIO tutorial

         http://www.heise.de/ct/english/01/05/242/ (but it doesn't exist)

Searching with google for KIO content of kde3 I found this link:

         http://fixunix.com/kde/148398-re-kde-kioslave-docs.html

There are 4 links on how kioslaves work within kde but no one works. 3 of them link to developer.kde, that is to say, techbase.kde

OK. This is the question. Is it not possible that the webmaster of techbase keep any copy of the removed content? You could ask to techbase webmaster for kde3 deleted content for uploading to trinity.

we can probably find all the old files on the wayback machine. They've archived a ton of stuff and I bet we can find anything missing there.

Very funny, but your comment is not constructive.

With your permission. Perhaps it is not necessary a time machine. Perhaps in some kde server it could be find a backup, dated 2008, of the website http://developer.kde.org/.

Because TDE is a fork of kde3, why do not fork the website for kde developers in time of kde 3.5.10? In 2008 this was developer.kde.org. That would be a good starting point because TDE it is the very kde3.

Hmmm. We could get the raw files and import them to our wiki. It is the same software so it should work well
Comment 8 Michael Martin 2011-10-16 07:25:44 CDT
Another page that should be useful to pull to the trinitydesktop website. Getting started subversion. TechBase are moving pages that are no longer useful for kde. However the page below, I think, is important to TDE.

Do you mind working on that? I was unaware that the techbase used FOSWiki as we do.
Comment 10 Calvin Morrison 2011-10-19 08:28:19 CDT
Looks as if they are using MediaWiki. my mistake. Either way the formatting should be relatively easy to copy and paste then fix the formatting errors by hand.

Add the following handbook to the list of handbook to be ported to TDE Wiki website:
