Shows the black screen in Konqueror

As seen in the attachment ksvg renders a black preview in Konqueror and gwenview. It may be in other applications as well but these are the ones I tested. I filed the bug against Squeeze but I have seen the same thing in Lucid and Fedora, as well as both physical hardware and VMWare 8. Under Trinity 3.5.11 and 3.5.12 I didn't see this issue. I tried to back rev ksvg to 3.5.12 but while it would install it wouldn't load.

Okay so I did some down tracking.

Me thinks that KIconView is broken. Everyone calls KIconView to do this thing, 
and all the results are the same. This is located in tdelibs/kdeui/kiconview.cc

Why is it broken? I can only guess. My first guess that Qt or TQt is the reason 
it is broken. the imaes are rendered by Qt. it's probably Qt that is broken.

Now I need to verify my hunch.

I'm unsure whether this bug has been resolved in GIT.

I now can see svg images in the konqueror popup tooltip and in the embedded svg viewer. We need others to rebuild from GIT to retest and confirm.

I would love to test this but I do not know how to build packages from GIT so I am not sure how I can help.

The patch pushed to GIT in hash 85c2426f for bug report 744 has resolved this bug report as well. With the latest patched GIT I am able to preview svg images with the konqueror ksvgplugin viewer.

I am marking this bug report resolved, but feel free to reopen.

Note: For folks using 3.5.13, Slavek's original patch for bug report 744 is for 3.5.13 and can be back ported.

I assumed that the patch for bug 744 also solve this bug. But there's still one little mistake. Thumbnails are displayed in original size == are not scaled by the size of the bubble / window with preview. Some of the thumbnails thus appear only white, black or just a small subset of the image.

We will solve this as another bug?
Or reopen this bug?

Would you provide a screen grab?

What are the exact configurations required to enable file previews in the popup tooltips? I'm testing a large patch set for bug report 892 and I have no previews at all in my "tooltip" popups --- of any type of file. Possibly I have stumbled into a bug with my patch set.

I tried a fresh profile. I now can see some thumbnail images in the the tooltip popup. Therefore the problem must be in my profile configuration.

With the fresh profile, whether I see an image in the tooltip popup varies, even with png images. With the svgz I see a white block, a black block, or the image. When I see the image the thumbnail is not a full proportional thumbnail but clipped.

Some of the png images are not viewable either.

As this bug report addresses the ksvg plugin, I created bug report 1018 to address the thumbnail problem.

I'm seeing much the same with the GIT files. However, when I use the ksvg plugin to preview the svgz files, I see the entire image. Only the thumbnails are clipped. Would seem then that the ksvg plugin is scaling correctly in GIT.

Possibly move your attachments to bug report 1018?
