By default, Bugzilla does not search the list of RESOLVED bugs.
You can force it to do so by putting the upper-case word ALL in front of your search query, e.g.: ALL tdelibs
We recommend searching for bugs this way, as you may discover that your bug has already been resolved and fixed in a later release.

Description Darrell 2011-11-15 14:44:39 CST
I am unable to login in with the Trinity KDM. Even when root login is enabled, the login fails. All I receive is a "Login failed" message.

I have tagged this report as specific to Slackware, but I don't know whether this is Slackware specific.

I suspect this is an authentication problem. I suspect KDM is looking for PAM but Slackware does not use PAM. Slackware uses shadow passwords.

Slackware does provide PolicyKit but using that layer is not required. The KDE 4 KDM, which is part of the stock Slackware, is not built or dependent upon PolicyKit.

I built kdebase with the WITH_PAM=OFF option. No change. Enabling/disabling SAK makes no difference.

Note: I have built KDE 3.5.10 for Slackware 13.1 and KDM there works fine.

I have found it also that KDM wont allow root logins for Kubuntu 10.10.

This is normal for Ubuntu. You can enable root logins via the KDM Control Center module.
