By default, Bugzilla does not search the list of RESOLVED bugs.

For instance: I have the laptop muted and then watch a video in Kaffeine, I then press the unmute button, the popup shows saying "Mute Off" but the sound doesn't actually turn on. I then click on KMixer icon on the taskbar and it is off. I have to click the unmute button on KMixer to have sound back. This is strange since after that it works ok. Perhaps there is some bug with full screen apps.

I am unable to reproduce this bug in R14, my keyboard's volume buttons seem to correctly mute/unmute/change the volume.

Also on my system I have no problem. Given the bug is very old and there has been no feedback from the original reporter, I think it is fare to close this bug. If the problem happens again we can always reopen.
What do you think?

I concur, however I will leave it up to someone else to change it: we could mark it as FIXED or WORKSFORME, depending on whether or not it there was an actual code fix related to this in TDE.

Closing WORKSFORME.  This may not have even been a TDE bug; a malfunction in any of several other system components (Xorg, alsa, etc.) could have caused this.  I do seem to recall (a long time ago) some soundcards having alsa driver issues where mute was unmuted and vice versa, so who knows.
