By default, Bugzilla does not search the list of RESOLVED bugs.
You can force it to do so by putting the upper-case word ALL in front of your search query, e.g.: ALL tdelibs
We recommend searching for bugs this way, as you may discover that your bug has already been resolved and fixed in a later release.

Description Wouter Deconinck 2008-12-06 22:29:59 CST
Due to their dependence on kdelibs4c2a (and not kdelibs4c2a-kde3) it is not possible to install kde3 packages that are currently not in the kde3 ppa repository. This problem occurs with:
keep: Depends: kdelibs4c2a (>= 4:3.5.8-1) but it is not going to be installed
kile: Depends: kdelibs4c2a (>= 4:3.5.9) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: konsole but it is not going to be installed
Recommends: kdvi but it is not going to be installed
kuickshow: Depends: kdelibs4c2a (>= 4:3.5.8-1) but it is not going to be installed

There might be other programs that have this problem, but I don't know how to do reverse dependency searches on not-installed packages.

Uploaded keep and kuickshow, but kile is giving problems and has been reassigned to bug 11, on which this bug depends.

Recommends: kipi-plugins but it is not going to be installed
Recommends: kdeprint but it is not installable
Recommends: konqueror but it is not going to be installed

libkdcraw3: Depends: kdelibs4c2a (>= 4:3.5.9) but it is not going to be installed

Please also add keybled and kcpuload.
Comment 7 Timothy Pearson 2008-12-19 14:28:15 CST
kcpuload-kde3 is up.

ktechlab is almost up; look for it by tonight.

keybled FTBFS straight from the Ubuntu archives, so I will not be able to deal with it for quite a while.

compiz kicker, compiz pager, and qalculate-kde also have problems related to this.
Comment 11 Calvin Morrison 2011-07-09 23:18:18 CDT
Moved this to the ubuntu specific section, as it deals with dependancy resolution for Ubuntu. Hopefully we can get this packaging cleared up smoothly :)

Quite a few programs (tork, kaudiocreator, etc.) need this and related dependencies. It already exists in Trinity, but these programs are looking for the old kde3 version, not the tde.

Marking as duplicate of Bug 411 as additional information is available in that report. Essentially, in order to keep up with modern Linux systems and services on those systes, the TDE ABI has diverged too much for this simple fix to be a viable solution. Programs compiled against KDE 3.5.10 will not run on TDE R14 and above, although those same programs can be ported (a simple process) to TDE and recompiled against TDE, at which point they will again function. See Bug 411 for details.
