By default, Bugzilla does not search the list of RESOLVED bugs.
You can force it to do so by putting the upper-case word ALL in front of your search query, e.g.: ALL tdelibs
We recommend searching for bugs this way, as you may discover that your bug has already been resolved and fixed in a later release.

Description ktbz.aoneshot.eliddell 2011-12-10 12:49:34 CST
Attempting to select Appearance & Themes > screensaver from kcontrol with kdebase installed but kdeartwork-kscreensaver not installed crashes kcontrol. Either the screensaver option should not appear at all if the backend isn't available, or the options panel should come up empty (no screensavers listed) without a crash.

The crash no longer occurs with kdeartwork installed.

I did notice that the screensaver panel seemed to come up empty for a split second before the crash. My guess is that a needed check for no screensavers being found is not included in the code.

Note: I'm not sure whether or not xscreensaver was installed at the point I discovered this. I believe it was not, so its absence is also a possible cause.

My testing system: Gentoo Linux x86 running inside VirtualBox (the host system is also Gentoo, but x86_64). Trinity was installed using experimental ebuilds.

I tried to reproduce this bug with all tdeartwork packages and any screensaver package removed from my Debian system. I could not reproduce any crash.
I am marking the bug as "worksforme". If you can still reproduce this bug, please reopen the bug report and provide info on how you reproduce that on R14.0.5 or higher.
