By default, Bugzilla does not search the list of RESOLVED bugs.
You can force it to do so by putting the upper-case word ALL in front of your search query, e.g.: ALL tdelibs
We recommend searching for bugs this way, as you may discover that your bug has already been resolved and fixed in a later release.

Description Stefan Schmidt 2012-04-11 17:01:47 CDT
I installed trinity 3.5.13 (with all dependencies that were pulled in automatically) from the PPA provided for Debian Squeeze in my system, which I recently upgraded to Squeeze (from Lenny).

However, no part of TDE really worked, I got various crashes (e.g. in kdm when loading the greeter, or in konsole or other programs from /opt/trinity/bin), due to missing symbols:

For example:
 stefan@netvista:~$ /opt/trinity/bin/konsole
kdeinit: Launched DCOPServer, pid = 29190 result = 0
kdeinit: Launched KLauncher, pid = 29194 result = 0
kdeinit: opened connection to localhost:11.0
kdeinit: Launched KDED, pid = 29197 result = 0
kdeinit: Got EXT_EXEC 'kbuildsycoca' from launcher.
kbuildsycoca running...
kdeinit: PID 29199 terminated.
kdeinit: Got EXEC_NEW 'kconf_update' from launcher.
kdeinit: PID 29219 terminated.
kdeinit: PID 29197 terminated.
konsole: symbol lookup error: /opt/trinity/lib/libkdeui.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZN7QObject18childrenListObjectEv
stefan@netvista:~$ kdeinit: terminate KDE.

Investigating the situation, I found that the package libqt3-mt was still in the standard debian version, 3:3.3.8b-7+b1, while in aptitude an alternative one, 3:3.3.8d-0ubuntu0+sr73+pr181~squeeze, was available.
Apparently the latter doesn't get automatically selected as dependency of some trinity package. Installing it manually however fixed my "missing symbol" problems.

Closing this bug. Currently, packages are numbered as 4:14.0.0-blah_blah_blah, so this type of conflicts will be avoided.
Feel free to reopen the bug if you notice the same problem again.
